Top 10 - Samurai Films

I'm keeping the definition of a samurai film pretty loose here, as long as you've got lots of katana sword fighting you're in. As you'll see in the list, I have a preference for the pulpier, more action heavy samurai film. Also, the majority of the films on this list the protagonist is actually a ronin, not a samurai, which is part of the reason I dedided to go with Ronin Cinema instead of Samurai Cinema for my site name. Ronin's don't serve any master, are dirtier, and generally more badass.

10. Zatoichi (Beat Takeshi version)

5. 13 Assassins

4. Zatoichi Series - I haven't seen every one of the films in this series (There are 26 total), but the ones I have had the opportunity to check out have been consistently badass.
Zatoichi

3. Kill Bill Vol. 1 & 2 - The Least Samurai of the films on this list, but it does contatin the best sword fight of any of these - the whole Crazy 88/Gogo Yubari/Oren Ishii throwdown.
Kill Bill

2. Lone Wolf and Cub Series - Daigoro (Cub) is more of a badass than 95% of the "heroes" from other action films.
Lone Wolf and Cub

1. Yojimbo - I actually saw Clint's Fist Full of Dollars first and although that's still totally amazing, I think I like this slightly more.
Yojimbo
