Top Blu-ray Releases: Mar. 9th

Not sure if I’m going to pick up anything on the list.  Maybe Up in the Air, or Ninja if it’s totally badass.

1. Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire – Not too sure what kind of re-watchability this one has.  I saw it in theatres, and once is probably enough for me.  Good film, just depressing.

2. Up in the Air – Really fun, slick film.  I didn’t think it deserved best picture status -I’d put it on around the same level as “Thank You For Smoking.”

3. Ninja – Heard some good word on this.  This review in particular.  I’m really interested to give it a shot.

4. Capitalism: A Love Story – Anything that’s taking down with Corporate America I’ll check out.

5. Hachi: A Dog’s Tale – When I visited Tokyo I heard all about the Japanese true story this is based on.  Kinda weird they’re adapting it with Richie Gere though. Trailer looks pretty weak, but in my household there's no choice, I will be watching this. My wife is super pumped.

6. Planet 51 – The trailers for this looked painful.  I might check it out for the animation though…. If I can muster the strength.

7. Boondock Saints 2: All Saints Day – I’ve seen the first one, but hardly remember it.  I know it’s a bit of a cult favourite for a lot of people, while critics generally disdain both of them.  Part of that may be based on how much of a jackass director Troy Duffy is (see documentary “Overnight”), but I’d still like to at least give this a rental.

Next week Park Chan-Wook’s vengeance trilogy comes to Blu-ray (Modern day classic), plus a few other hit and miss films.
